PORTRAIT NYC

PORTRAIT NYC is Cecilie Beck's 2013 thesis from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.

In the project she portrayed the city through the work of 29 artists. Via songwriting she told the story about 8 different people she found inspiring in the city. These songs were passed on to producers who were given the complete freedom to produce a song in whatever way they felt like. Cecilie was included in the processes in various ways and her vocal is on all the songs. When she songs were done they were passed on to 8 different visual artists who made videos for them.

The project was exhibited simultaneously at Charlottenborg Kunsthal and Red Door in New York City.
